Bio

Whats up! im just a kool kid who grew up in house/Hip-hop era and spent time in my teens and 20's workin clubs/ "raves" when they were about the music & throwin down on the dance floor. ; Now my knees are almost shoot- thanks to ;rippin "C" notes on my 600's cc and urban biking. ; None the less, I can still hold my own ;and rip-shit-stop-gap on some damn glow-stick twirlin tardys. ; No disrespect meant- just ant dancin- ; ; Chicago House saved my life (love the mid 90's) ; Break-beat taught me to ;move (tks Icey-and who didnt ;try their first "change-up" to Icey in the 90's?!) ; Jungle-mid 90's brit jazz-y made me want to get nasty with it!! And lead me to meeting people like DieselBoy, Daniel, AK1200, etc., (Shout out-2 ;Linton) ; ;Prob. the theme music to running back in the day- ;what a biotch it was having to ;flip-ur-tap while running. ; yeah- I just said tape MF?! ; I know, you ;can imagine; no worries. ; Hard trance was only good if you were cracked out- and i dont hit crack- ; ; Progressive-Deep- almost into Trance has my attention these days. ; spending a lot of time riding and solo- go figure A? Know your grandfathers face befor he was born: Lenny Levine, birth of CLUB, Juke-Joints, house Lets give props where its desirved- House did not come from hip-hop. ; Lenny Levine (sp?) was know for the "change-up" at Paradise Garage in NYC early 80's. ; It was the first Club-as we think of them today. ; ; ; Prior to this time ;you had "Juke-joints" ; AKA Juke-Box, like 45's and the thing spins round. ; Imagin gettin your club on ;when that was the sound system!? ; ; Ever wonder why the muscle would rough up bar keeps over a Juke-Box in ;Mobster ;movies?? ?....Ohhhhh! ; Yes- you got it now. ; The club was more than just a place to dance and be sceen; it was a revolt on the establishment and how people heard music. ; Think about that a min.. And, ;guess who wasent invited-? ; Yep again. ; Integration may have become law ;in the late 60's however, ;it took some time for that ;to be a reality. ; So ;where did non-whites go to dance??? ; At House parties- ; you with me now?! ; you may hear the term "blue light basement" because, well, up ;north everyone has basements- naturally cleared out (or should be lol) so thats where ;people would dance. ; ; Anyway- Lenny; tragic story of ;an artist whom passed too ;soon much like many of the people, artist, actors, and ;kids who danced to his music. ; God Bless ;you for your gift Lenny. ; Lucky for us there were a few others there checkin his thing out. ; One of which would be the father of the "house sound" Franky Knuckles- and the rest... continues. I think another very important part of the story involves the masive social impact of 2 things that happened in and around this sceen; and too many have forgotten or simply are not around to tell the story- AIDS ;killed ;in the 70's,80's,&90's. ; Of this many were ;of the club-kids (and artist) in the ;late 80's early 90's- then Crack, ;Smack, Jack and Meth killed the music and rest in the 90's- I dont profess to have been there in the NYC Garage, Loft, Etc., kind of way- Im almost old enough to have caught bits and pieces- and share what I know to be that was and will never be again. RIP RED in Washington DC; sad day when ;RED went black. ;Sundays were no childs ;play on the dance floor!! ; Feel free to add to my notes- again- im not the professor so no need to get on me- just help get the story down- tks Give ;me some sweet beats, soulful vocals, and a floor of people with good spirit; Ill be dhere! ; Peace- ; Rue ;Sant Angel 6 ; ; b ;
